World still depends on coal, cheap, plentiful — and dirty

All those coal addicts are sitting in Katowice right now making lofty promises on how nice they are. While right at the same time building new coal plants. How crazy is that? How does anyone believe anything they say? I am always told that those agreements are important. For what if nobody ever lives up to those goals. Those signing accords while messing the planet up are not the good ones. Those getting out of agreements while improving year over year are not the bad ones.

Coal, the fuel that powered the Industrial Age, has led the planet to the brink of catastrophic climate change.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
