A Monster Wind Turbine Is Upending an Industry

When the wind does not blow, the large wind-turbine will stop turning around just like the small one. The problem plaguing wind and solar is not size. Its intermittency. When there is no wind, 100% of the turbine is offline and needs to be replaced with reliable power generation which means that the full cost of the backup plant must be factored into the price of intermittent power. This will forever make it much more expensive than conventional power. And Renewable enthusiasts will never admit that simple truth. But power customers have this on their utility bills.
