African states eye EU gas opportunity from Ukraine crisis

I would love for that to play out but Europe is pressed for time and if there is one thing Africa is not good at it’s doing things in a timely manner. If we take the timeline on the biggest LNG project on the continent as a template, we are at least 10 years away from new LNG from here. That being said, there is existing uncommitted LNG production from here and this would find a new home in Europe. Win-win if Europe can manage to commit for the longer term.

As the prospect of a squeeze on Russian gas supplies to Europe, EU states are increasingly likely to need an alternative. One option lies at its southern border.
