I was a late bloomer in education terms. I grew up in the sticks with rural basic schooling. I started law school at the age of 26 after having moved to France and after having made a special test to be able to. I was in awe of academia. After having graduated in minimum time while creating and running a company at the same time and doing it in a language that I did not even speak when I came to France, I am disenchanted. I rubbed flesh with some students from prestigious families and schools in France. I expected much and was clobbered. Those dull people lead us today – and that’s why we are in such a mess.

How can you trust any analysis that refuses to integrate the current hydrocarbon system that meets 80 percent of global energy needs?

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
