California’s Zero Carbon Plans: Can Anybody Here Do Basic Arithmetic?

We are not even talking about the monstrous mountain of metals that will have to be mined from mines that don’t even exist yet. And this is only California. And only the batteries – someone will have to cough up the cash for the grid, the production sites, and all the fun stuff in between. Oh, and those batteries have a limited lifetime as every owner of a cellphone knows which means new batteries and decommissioning of the old stuff. Money, money, money …

Always GW, never GWH. Trying to get any useful information out of these people is almost impossible. I think they are all completely innumerate. Out of 40 million people in California, isn’t there …

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
