Carbon Dioxide: “The Gas of Life”, Douglas Lightfoot

Most people I meet and tell about CO2 and its role in life and evolution are appalled when they find out how incredibly low CO2 in the atmosphere really is. They think that it’s very abundant and that we are on the verge of CO2 poisoning when the contrary is true. Below 150ppm, plants have a real problem surviving. And we were already at 180ppm. We have way too little CO2 in the air and I would be much more comfortable if the current count of 480 ppm (0,048%) would at least double. Life functions much better with a lot more CO2. Just imagine what warming we get when all life dies for a lack of CO2.
