I have quite a lot of Democrat-leaning friends in the US. Pretty much all of them are deeply anti-Trump. Some of them rabidly so. But even the most ardent Trump opponent will admit that life was a lot better with him at the helm than with Biden. This will produce some interesting dynamics in 2024. Germans also remember better times and it will be the time they had under Merkel they will long for. But Merkel is very much at the origin of the plight they suffer right now – the current bunch just made it much worse. Tell people bad things are coming and they might move. Take away what they cherish most and they will move for real.
