China holds all the cards in Russia’s eastern pivot

Russia’s eastern pivot is worthless for China as it cannot possibly be a long-term posture. There is a reason for the energy infrastructure as it exists in Russia today. It’s dictated by geography and by distance. It is also dictated by the nature of oil and gas fields and where they are placed. Besides, Russia trusts China about as far as Putin can throw an anvil and he knows why. The same goes for China with Russia. Those are two adversaries with massive problems at home and no easy fix in sight. And they think that they can BS the world as they have done over the last couple of decades. It’s a show without substance.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network.
