China To Double Coal-Fired Power Plant Capacity…Aims to Avoid European, US Blunders

Right now and for quite a number of years, half of all the coal thats being burned on planet Earth is burnt in China. Half. The entire rest of the planet thats not China does not burn as much coal as this one country does. And it will still be more as once those new plants are constructed it makes absolutely no sense to tear them down in 10 years or a little more. This means that what we all should have known for years is now abundantly clear. China has no intention at all to ever play ball on climate policy and it’s the biggest polluter. Why are we still playing ball?

By the end of 2023, China plans to build new coal-fired power plants with a capacity of at least 165 gigawatts – which is equivalent to more than double of Germany’s current total electric power…
