China Wants to Be Carbon Neutral By 2060. Is That Possible?

Chinas coal consumption beats the rest of the world combined and its rising. A few windmills and solar panels to support their homegrown RE developers and manufacturers won’t dent the picture even a bit. Spin this further – China goes into quite a bit of economic uncertainty right now. Their export machine sputters, Belt and Road is a mess, their geopolitical antics annoy potential trading partners, and the economic war with the US won’t help either. When energy prices will rise again (and they will) the bill for importing stuff will go out of the window while the inward cash flow will be even more stunted. Throw in the cost of Renewable Energy and we can see where this journey leads us. Coal hoo … Not that I would mind but lets put the glossy stories where they belong – to the bin.
