Climate Targets Could Shutter UK Steel Industry

Could? They most certainly would plus a plethora of other industries that simply won’t be able to operate anymore under those conditions. Unilaterally making things super hard for your own companies while allowing those that don’t give a dump for any environmental standards to import freely is a death spell for your own industries. There is no nice and cuddly remedy to this. Either one goes down to the other countries’ low environmental and social standards or one erects trade barriers. I guess it will be a mix of both.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
