All developed economies levy taxes on all stages of the fossil fuel chain. Those taxes pay for a significant part of the welfare state. No developed economy pays any real subsidies to Oil & Gas. There are some limited coal subsidies and I am much in favor of rescinding them. But especially Oil & gas lose a lot of money they pay into government coffers rather than getting any money from subsidies so those claims and especially the IMF study which sees subsidies in fantasy positions such as externalities or tax levels they deem too low are laughable. My already faint faith in the IMF has evaporated when I saw the study.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network.
