Does China Pose a Threat to Global Rare Earth Supply Chains?

It’s not China that poses a threat to rare Earth supplies. It’s us who make it impossible to produce those minerals in the quantities we need. The paper regulation upfront (thats the one that does not serve any purpose other than filling the pockets of countless authorities and consultants) kills projects before they are conceived. On the other side, China does not give the slightest damn about the environment. Should we emulate that? No way – but we could put a price on Chinas disregard for the environment and people by putting a Border Adjustment Tax on top of imports. Sure this makes things a bit more expensive for us here but it would also level the field for our producers. And for heaven’s sake, lighten the regulatory burden. It’s insane.
