EU Carbon Border Levy: A Recipe for Failure

The Carbon Border Levy will indeed be a colossal shot in both feet of the European economies. But the principle of a Border Adjustment Tax is not a bad one. Call it a tariff if you want. Theoretically, I would like to live in a world without borders but as we have seen those last two decades this would assume that everyone plays by the same rules, and thats simply not true. Normal people in developed nations lose out as their elites sell them out to those that will flout the rules, enslave their own populations and scorch their own environment to make a buck. The BAT could counter that if well crafted. The Carbon Tax would just entrench the misery of the normal.
