EU Plans to Court Africa to Help Replace Russian Gas Imports
It’s a bit like the estranged family member who has never come to the family dinner or even to Christmas and now, all of a sudden because crap is about to hit the fan he is all over you hoping you might pull him out of the mess he is in. Africa is no monolith – it’s a really, really big place. Almost as big as Asia, and it needs a long, quality engagement for a long time. Because the volumes that Europe needs can be found in Africa but they need to be produced, refined, conditioned, and transported and that’s not done in a day.
(Bloomberg) -- The European Union will seek to step up cooperation with African countries to help replace imports of Russian natural gas and reduce dependence on Moscow by almost two-thirds this year.
