Fitch: LNG trade ‘crushed’ by trade war

The US LNG producers would be much better served if they dropped their blind devotion to China and looked at their doorstep. The biggest transport market on Earth is on their doorstep. Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean need LNG like yesterday. With a little bespoke planning, this could absorb more LNG than China ever will. But it requires LNG producers to get their boots on the ground or support those that do this work. Plus lobbies in Chinese hotels promising big “once in a lifetime deals” are more comfortable than island hopping for nibble style small clients. But the big bets are also a Casino. Many small ones is a lot of work, but it won’t blow you out of the water when times get hard.
