Gas crisis lands LNG cargo market in hands of energy giants

Sure it’s in the hands of the majors. They have been the only ones to make the required investments. In Europe, we preferred sleeping and letting Russia build pipelines toward us. Now we are complaining. How was it with the stupid prices for stupid games? The majors fulfill a critical role in the LNG market. They are aggregators that provide the financial backing for a new project, they soak up volumes on a 100% Take or Pay basis and care about marketing them. Now they rake it in but often enough they can even make ends meet. This is their payday – they paid for it.
