Gas Squeeze Has India Requesting Cargoes It Didn’t Want in 2015
Let’s say that Qatar was willing to entertain this request (which is very far from certain I believe) and also that the Indians have the contractual right to request the cargos, Qatargas still has an ADP by which all cargoes or at least a large quantity of the are already allocated to someone. How would they now – because Petronet asks for it – materialize 50 cargos out of thin air? Petronet has not taken the cargos when they could not use them leaving Qatargas to deal with something that could not be sold except at a loss. Now they will have to contend with whatever they get – and pay the price.
