Germany’s Merkel defends decision to get Russian natural gas

Merkel was the quintessential “no flavor – no impact” politician. It was what Germans wanted from their leaders for decades. Or at least most Germans did not have the guts and the stamina to stand up and offer an organized alternative. Because we have known for a long time that there is something wrong in most EU states but so far we had followed along like nice little boys and girls. But going along with every idiocy, having no spine and no hard position carries a price – the biggest price of all. Merkel never had the gall to stand up for what was right. She always went the easy way. Now, there are only hard ways left.
