Guyana must embrace transparency to realise oil wealth

I remember the early days of oil production in Ghana. I was in Accra meeting with GNCP and the regulatory body for oil and gas and was told that Ghana would not make the mistakes of their fellow African oil-producing countries. Flaring would not be allowed. Sure enough, the flares are on. We should not trust declarations – money always comes in the way of the best of intentions.
