Honda: Lithium-Ion EV’s Won’t Reach Price Parity With Gasoline Cars

Where are most lithium-ion batteries made? Yes, in China. And why is that so? Because China does not pay any heed to environmental and people protection. Those costs would usually have to be borne and find their way into any EVs that want to roam our roads. This means that the EVs that are still a good deal more expensive than gasoline cars are actually underpriced. China’s utter disregard for any real environmental protection should be accompanied by a price we raise on their wares. Call it a tax or a tariff, I don’t care. But we cannot let this go on forever.
