Italy’s liquefied natural gas ship sails into a storm of protest

Nobody wants such a ship close to a tourist destination or a popular beach. I like LNG but I concede that I like my views unspoiled as well. That being said, Italy has a problem just like many other European countries as one of its most important gas suppliers falls away. They have a long coast so there should be opportunities. That said, one of the best opportunities would be in the very north of the Adriatic Sea. The Trans Austria Gas Pipeline TAG is extremely underused now. It was used to bring Russian gas down to Italy. Much of that capacity can be reversed to bring gas to Austria and southern Germany today. All for very little effort and cost. Use what is here and can be reused just like the Greeks do it with the Eastern Balkans pipeline today.
