Well then, relax Europe because China is not going to come back. China is busy building up so much coal capacity that over the next 30 years there won’t be any incentive to use anything else. And as China’s economy is already contracting for real, their coal capacity will most likely even exceed their actual needs. Why buy expensive LNG if you don’t need it anymore and you also care less and less what the rest of the world thinks about you? It’s survival for the Chinese now, they don’t give a damn about outside China.

Reinhard Cluse, chief eurozone economist at UBS Investment Bank, says China hasn't been consuming as much energy as it used to, which has allowed Europe to direct global LNG glows from Asia toward Europe.
