Law Whispering is Dead, Long Live Law Whispering!

This is why we need individual rights that are cast in stone and enforceable by any individual. There will always be lobbying, there will always be the abuse of administrative powers by the ruling party, and there will always be personal beef of judges and high-ranking personnel that is in a position to make law without the usual legislative process. We cannot ever hope to root that out. That said, we must still strive to expose it to reel it in knowing full well that this is an exercise in futility. When all else fails, individuals having strong rights can take a last line of defense against an overbearing state. That’s far from perfect but better than an omnipotent state.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
