LNG Emissions Are Ten Times Piped Gas

Question: how much gas can Norway possibly deliver to Europe? Enough for everyone to be happy? I doubt. Norway is geographically close. Thats why a pipeline is an economically competitive solution for transporting gas. Try that over 5000km, or 10000. Some LNG sources we use are much farther away. Pipeline gas needs compression and this is a linear calculation. The longer it is, the more gas for compression will be used. With LNG, the initial liquefaction uses some gas and once that is done, it’s cheap and easy to handle also in terms of emissions. In many cases, LNG is the cleanest and cheapest option.
