Mining Firms’ Cautious Spending Threatens Shift to Green Energy

Just like oil and gas companies, mining firms make decadal investments. This means that developing a new mine takes a lot of upfront investment that will have to be paid off over more than a decade. If that cannot be done, the mine will be a dud. Mining firms have learned that hypes and bubbles cannot provide them with the funds they need to pay back. And banks lending to mining firms have learned that too. They might have a hunch that the green revolution might be shorter-lived than most assume.
