New Texas Law To Force Renewables To Be Dispatchable

Will Texans also be granted the rare pleasure of cost transparency, or is that reserved for polite company only? And more to the point—who, pray tell, will foot the bill? Because if wind and solar operators are expected to shoulder the true costs of their intermittently glorious output, they’ll fold faster than a poker cheat at a Baptist fundraiser. And let’s not kid ourselves: the Texan legislature, which helped birth this renewable bacchanal with subsidies, fanfare, and quite possibly a few well-placed kickbacks, isn’t exactly itching to see headlines about green bankruptcies on their watch. After all, they’ve already mugged the Texan public into funding this mess—gang-pressing them into the grand experiment. So forgive me if I doubt they’ll turn inquisitor now. Still, the intention is noble: show us the recipe, the ingredients, the ladle and the cook—let us at least see how this damn soup was brewed.
