The shale patch has never really been dull. One thing that must have been clear to many people is that it’s not only a work in progress but thats it’s also incredibly diverse. There are good plays and outstandingly bad plays. There are players that drive innovation and those who drive their companies into a brick wall. When crude went below USD 30, shale was declared dead, yet it persevered. There will be another round of shake-out. Bad beans will go away. Ineffective methods will phase out and some acreage will be given up. But the world needs oil and easy oil is pretty much over. All not-so-easy-volumes are all fraught with issues. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

An uptick in drilling within the city limits signals that the very best rock in one of the world's most prolific oil fields has already been tapped.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network.
