Germany has faked its way out of the cul-de-sac unreliables so far by dumping their unreliability over their borders. Polish coal, Belgian and French nukes, and Austrian hydropower keep Germany in business. This has a price and there is a reason why Germany has one of the most expensive power prices anywhere on Earth. But this fakery does not hold up forever. Firstly, ever more unreliable power in Germany pushes the boundaries which even this constant border pushing can accomplish and to put the cherry on top, Germanies neighbors start to be short as well and need their own flexible power to mask their own unreliables. The jug is up.

Wind and solar have justly earned the tag ‘unreliables’: sunset and calm weather are inevitable, whereas the so-called ‘inevitable renewable energy transition’, is anything but. The Germans call it…

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network.
