Still More Vogtle Nuclear Delays (how will it end?)

Vogtle is just one example of all that is wrong with our “Big Project Permitting Process”. There are so many burning hoops to jump through and the way to an operating plant has been made so artificially difficult that costs balloon way out of anything thats sane. Add a hefty dose of mismanagement and politics and you have the recipe for disaster. Few things rile the average human as much as nuclear power does but as with many things, our fears of that great energy source are ridiculously overblown. Our fear of radiation is so nonsensical, it’s pathetic. We need a sane permitting process, one that deals with real risks and dangers, not imaginary ones. The current one just feeds the Permitting Industrial Complex.
