Asia has always regarded LNG as peak power and coal as baseload power. In spite of all the madness about Climate Change plus Fukushima plus te market ups and downs, this has not even changed in Japan. It builds new coal power too. The oversupply situation won’t go away magically. LNG will have to do what it has never done. Market LNG – develop some new markets. Markets that can grow quickly. And whee the competing fuel is way more expensive than coal to power. Trucking would be one idea.
The collapse in the spot price of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Asia is a short-term phenomenon that may well end up having a longer-term impact, especially on thermal coal.
