The Difference Between Variability & Uncertainty In Risk

There is a difference between “knowing what you don’t know” and “not knowing what you don’t know”. If you know what you don’t know you understand that issue and the context the issue dwells in. You might have examples to pull in for comparison with the real world. But if you don’t know what you don’t know, you are simply oblivious. Chaotic systems such as weather and climate have too many variables that cannot possibly comprehend because of their infinite complexity. Thats why we always get them wrong. Thats no science – the lady with the glass ball can do better.
