The Fall Of A Culture In One Minute Ten Seconds

One day in 1994 I just sat in Austria, waiting for another turn in Syria and musing on how to kill time until that happens. I imagined what riding a bicycle in Northern Africa or the Middle East must be like. And the longer I thought about it, the more I was sure I had to try. So I grabbed my bike, some stuff I considered useful, and off I went towards Syria and further on to Egypt. Surprise, the air I breathed while there was no different, and the sweat as well. Fear has taken root in our lives. I pity today’s young that cannot seem to appreciate reality for what it is and is driven by laughable fears. The real world today is no different from 30 years ago.
