The reason why your electricity bills are so high and other things to know about LNG

LNG exports make electricity in the US more expensive – hard to argue with that. But then again, the real reason for price rises is the brittle architecture of the US power system that relies ever more on unreliable energy sources such as wind and solar. Taking down coal plants and then asking Natural Gas to pick up the balancing of the grid that became necessary only because of unreliable energy sources and then blaming Natural Gas for high prices is more than chuzpe. But the real scandal is that the Natural Gas industry does not fire back. They saved the day so far – they should ask for some nicer treatment. Forcefully so.
