The Story Behind The Loss Making “Subsidy Free” Solar Farm

So, a Solar Farm without direct subsidies is a loss-making venture. And thats why investment decisions have gone down to near-nothingness. But this already extremely unflattering picture hides an even uglier face. Because wind and solar energy enjoy very wide net advantages as compared to other power producers. They get grid access when everybody else is shut-out, they can sell their stuff when others are not even allowed to offer distorting the market. They get free balancing services to smooth out the flickery nature of their electricity.
