Timeline: Nord Stream 2 – Russia to Germany gas pipeline’s difficult birth

Considering where gas prices are now and also how some Germans see the future of fossil fuels, Russia might be secretly hoping that NS2 never goes operational. Because this would allow those who spent that cash to blame it on the Americans. Because if it goes operational, the measly economics of the project will become apparent – at least to insiders. I believe that Europe needs the gas and hence would welcome NS2 – but cheap gas it is not.
