Trade war threatens China’s hydrogen export ambitions

When China started gushing about hydrogen exports, it wasn’t about saving the planet—it was about saving face and jobs in its overfed, teetering construction and manufacturing beasts, already wheezing under the weight of mass unemployment. Beijing knew hydrogen would bleed wallets dry, but counted on the West—ever eager to buy moral indulgences—to bankroll the charade. The only “green” they cared about was in our pockets. Now, as their economic duct tape peels off and the cracks widen, Xi might see a silver lining: a perfect excuse to blame the crumbling mess on the nasty, conniving West and cling to power while the empire frays. It’s not strategy—it’s survival theater, rotten to the core.
