Warming annually causes about 120,000 heat deaths but prevents nearly 300,000 cold deaths
Nobody ever makes the calculation. Many have seen the figures on externalities of fossil fuels, many of them imagined or vastly overrated. But when someone looks at externalities, one cannot leave out the other half of the picture as when you look at the negatives you ought also to look at the positives. And they far outweigh the negatives by an order of magnitude. The planet was heading for the extinction of forests and whales before fossil fuels. Coal and oil saved them. And humanity as a whole.
