Winter is coming but Germany’s Scholz leaves Canada with no promises for LNG

I really don’t understand why Scholz goes to Canada of all countries for LNG. Just south of Canada lies the big juggernaut that will account for the lion’s share of new FIDs over the next years and Scholz goes to a country that will be a minnow in LNG terms even if they open a terminal at all. If you need LNG now, you need spot cargos. If you need it in  5 years, you go to projects that are shovel-ready. Everything else will take much longer.
