American engineers deal blow to Russian Arctic oligarch

Mikhelson might soon find out that the entire LNG venture out of the Russian Arctic coast faces another, way more serious danger. the world is cooling pretty significantly and there will be years when not even ice breakers will be able to access the plants on the Yamal peninsula. Don’t believe me? Look at temperatures where you live. Look at summer highs 3 or 4 years ago and now. Dig out the headlines from old newspapers – the local ones. Summers are cooler, winters are colder, and the arctic gets a new ice makeover. But maybe Gore can talk the ice away once more.

U.S oil service company Baker Hughes will no longer provide engineering services to Russian LNG developers. That creates another serious headache for Novatek owner Leonid Mikhelson and his LNG projects in the Arctic.
