Carbon Could Soon Reach Levels Not Seen in 56 Million Years

Where are we currently? 400ppm? There were times in earths history when CO2 levels were more than 10 times this level and the climate was decidedly colder than today. If a change from 300 to 400 ppm in more than 60 years causes very significant arming, then a change from 400 to 4000 (massively bigger in the end) should cause cataclysmic warming I guess. One of the most striking examples is the Ordovician where CO2 was at around 5000ppm and there was widespread glaciation. Now, CO2 is not the only factor warming the climate. Solar radiation is way more potent – and there we have it. We are barking up the wrong tree. Its sun god Helios personally who roasts us. And he does not give a damn about COP conferences.

Total human carbon dioxide emissions could match those of Earth’s last major greenhouse warming event in fewer than five generations, new research finds.
