Claim: Climate Change Driving Snow Cover Loss and Increased “Greening” in the European Alps

We have plenty of evidence that there were times when large parts of the Alps were ice-free and the glaciers we have today were not even existing. We have this evidence for mountain ranges all over the world but as the Alps have been documented since before the Roman Age, we have more evidence than about other mountain chains. We had found traces of human civilization that should be covered in eternal ice. This means that those places were ice.-free at the time. How did we have much greener Alps 1000, 2000, and 3000 years ago than we have today?
