COP26 Ends In Humiliating Failure

Eventually, it would have to be clear that the piper must be paid. If one expects people to live in misery forever one is bound to produce some dissenting opinions. Developing nations played along so far because they hoped that this would result in a waterfall of free money from the developed world. But the developed world is in trouble now and COVID has burned off much of the fat we thought we have. No cash for helping other nations here anymore. Politics are always local.

But the writing is now on the wall. Developing countries around the world are standing up and refusing to cut back on fossil fuels, because they know they have no alternative if they want to…

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
