COP27: A Meaningless Ritual for China and India

China far more than India depends on exports for their well-being. If developed, consuming countries catch a sneeze, China goes into heart fibrillations. And when you are as dependent on export revenue as especially China is, you will make all the right noises that your customers want to hear. Never mind that filling those words with resolve would break their export industries at once so they need to lie. And lie they did to protect their economic fortunes. I don’t even blame them for mirroring our empty gestures. Because we lied too. Everyone lies when it comes to a thing that we could not survive if we did it the way it was intended.

Green promises made at COP27 by China and India will be superficial at best.
