Data revolution before shale revolution
Just as so very often, China thinks they can pirate some clever software and apply it to their own situation but this time it fails completely. Because shale is more about culture than about technology. Yes, tech will make a difference but will it make enough of a difference. Will ossified party cadres start to behave like red blood entrepreneurs when this is required? Will the take names and kick ass in their own country, against their own leaders if need is? I think not. They will continue to behave little nice puppets as they must. And nice puppets get combed but they don’t get to crack hard matters.
