EU, Saudi Eye Pact on Energy Transition

Let me translate this for you. The Saudi side is looking for someone who will foot the colossal bill for their stated green ambitions. They have come to learn that pretty much the entire green story is one big graveyard for cash and lofty aspirations. We currently see a mighty big question mark above the biggest of all Saudi projects – NEOM. The city in the desert is slated to become the mother of all white elephants. On the other side, the Europeans want someone who will give them at a low price what they know they can’t do for even higher prices. Both sides are expecting things, that the other can never fulfill. Cheaters, trying to cheat each other.

Saudi Arabia and the European Commission are planning cooperation on renewable power, clean energy technology and carbon capture.
