When the space probe New Horizons passed by Pluto in 2015, the world was elated by what we saw. Unexpected complexity and beauty at the fringes of the Solar System. Complex worlds and planetary dynamics that were thought impossible so far out. The more we think we know, we find what we don’t know. Time has a corroding effect on data. We have had detailed global weather data only for decades, anything before 1900 is spotty at best and anything before 1700 is hearsay and conjecture with glimpses of historical narrative. The farther one goes back, the less certainty exists.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
