France-Germany Spat Over Nuclear Delays EU Renewables Deal Again

The French technocrats have always been the most protectionist in all of Europe. And as much as I thought of it negatively in the past, I must admit that in today’s world, they have a point. Not only do they protect their energy security, but they also protected their agricultural base and their industrial capabilities. In a de-globalized world, every country will have to provide for its essential functions by itself. Many developed nations cannot do that anymore. They need to trade, sometimes even to eat. Or to heat. The French model, with all its drawbacks, has its charms.
