Future of UK fossil fuels at stake in test case

Laws are nothing but the expression of the will of the majority while respecting the minority. That said, 1% are no minority but a tiny pressure group. Minorities have a significant piece of the population such as 20%. They represent something perceptible. One in a hundred is an oddity. If the law is the expression of the will of the majority, then the majority can change any law. Judges are often creative but when a statute is clear, their creativity is limited. Activists can still try to keep things in court to block them even if there is no reasonable hope for success. That’s why we need rules for abusive legal proceedings with stern penalties attached. Not easy to solve but we need such a tool.
