Germany: All-Electric Car Sales More Than Doubled In August 2023

Every single ICE vehicle is a net contributor to the public good as its taxes pay for much of the country’s social spending. Every Electric Vehicle is a net taker from the public good as it costs the state a lot of money to bring them into the market and the state also loses a lot of money with much lower taxes. This means that tax revenue in Germany is going to change drastically. There will be much less money for German social spending. How is that going to go down in the next election?

In August, the total new plug-in electric car registrations in Germany amounted to 101,201 (up 78% year-over-year), which is 37.0% of the total volume.
